The Mining Engineers Association of India on June 13 urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to amend the mining laws. The clipping below gives details about how the entire mining sector in the country will be affected by not amending the rules. The President of the association said that the mining sector feared the threat of closure. Hence, they jointly appealed to the new government to kickstart the mining activities in the country by amending the MMDR Act immediately.
The Tamil Nadu heavy mineral mining industry is also at a standstill, because of suspected illegal beach mining. Although the claims have been dismissed on the alleged private mining companies like VV Minerals India, owned by Mr. S. Vaikundarajan, the ban is still prevalent and is affecting the economies greately.
